A rally demanding that FEMA rescinds its decision to cutoff evacuee hotel payments by Dec. 1 will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Members of the ACORN Katrina Survivor Association will be joined by AFL-CIO Vice President Linda Chavez-Thompson, U.S. Rep. Al Green at the FEMA field office. "We at ACORN are not going to sit by quietly and let the government open the holiday season by putting families out into the street, after all they've been through," said ACORN Katrina Survivors Association leader Dorothy Stukes. "We as a country need to treat people better than this." |
