Army Sgt. Michael C. Taylor was killed nearly two weeks ago when an improvised explosive device went off near his truck during combat operations.
Army officers showed up at his family's door, just hours after they received a Christmas card in the mail from Taylor.
He was supposed to be home next month.
Funeral services for Sgt. Taylor will be held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Tomball.
The church is located at 411 Houston St., and the service begins at 2 p.m.
