From Mike Jones to Paul Wall, 2005 was a breakout year for Houston rap artists. Jones sold more than one (M) million copies with his April debut, "Who Is Mike Jones?" He also appeared on the Fox television show "Prison Break" -- and was Punk'd by Ashton Kutcher on MTV. Another Houston rapper, Slim Thug, sold more than a half-million copies of his album "Already Platinum." Critics think next year could be even bigger for the Houston rap scene. Lil' Flip -- whose first two albums sold more than 1 million copes -- will release his third offering, "I Need Mine" in February. -- Associated Press |
