Burning candles may be to blame for a fire that destroyed a house in northeast Houston.
The homeowner lived on Weaver at Lockwood and told firefighters he had no electricity and needed the candles for light and warmth.
Unfortunately, he also had a gas can in the home and after hearing a loud boom, the homeowner had to run outside to escape the fire.
He wasn't hurt, but his home was seriously damaged.
One firefighter went to LBJ Hospital for a cut on his chin and was released.
