An investigation of a possible stolen vehicle led law enforcement officer in Fort Bend County to more than 1,500 pounds of marijuana Friday.

Deputies pulled over a car in the 800 block of Caroline St., which they suspected was possibly stolen.

During the investigation, deputies discovered four large packages of marijuana. After conducting a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered 10 more packages in the trunk of the vehicle: approximately 341 pounds of marijuana.

Deputies secured the scene and contacted the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force, Houston HIDTA Initiative (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area). After further investigation, the FBCNTF seized an additional 1,159 pounds of suspected marijuana from the referenced location.

The suspect, Richard Wayne Dalton, Jr., 29 years-of-age, was placed in custody for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.

The street value of the marijuana is approximately $750,000.

This investigation is still ongoing, but we anticipate additional arrests.
