In an exclusive interview with 11 News, Mayor Ray Nagin said it is too early for official estimates, but more people than expected came to Big Easy for the celebration. Governor Mitch Landrieu, have both plan campaign stops in Houston in their race for mayor. 11 News producer Juanita Jimenez reports from Randalls where students from St. Anne's Catholic School took refuge from a gas leak near campus. Appears little has been cleaned up, but the mayor said that is a very deceiving scene because city, state and federal government have cleaned up about 7 million cubic yards of debris. City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tem Carol Alvarado has hired attorney Rusty Hardin and a public relations firm to help with her office's payroll scandal, the Houston Chronicle reported. ...Police are back at Bellaire High School Monday. The school is beefing up its security after a student stabbed another student last week. Around 4 a.m. Thursday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of a home invasion in the 7700 block of Eldergrove Lane in Richmond. According to Investigators, the 28-year-old victim just arrived at his home in the West Oaks Village Subdivision after having dinner in the Houston area. As the victim was entering his residence two suspects allegedly appeared and forced him into his home. ...The Houston Police Patrolmen's Union is protesting HPD's attempt to force offices to adhere to a ticket quota. ...Police say a man took off in a big flatbed truck Friday morning but he didn't get far.

A new study has revealed the extent of hunger in the Houston area,and, it's disturbing. The review, done by the End Hunger Network and the Houston Food Bank, found about 500,000 residents here seek emergency food assistance every year. ...

He states that the gases and potential for explosions means that virtually no mechanized equipment can be used. A woman allegedly burned by bug bombs is asking for $5 million in a lawsuit against her former landlord. Earlier this month, when an explosion caused by bug bombs blew out walls, windows and doors at the Mesquite Woods Apartments in La Marque, resident Myra Miles-Brown was burned. ...
