It will mark the 22nd year the HPD has observed the event designed to heighten awareness of crime in Houston areas.
Chief Hurtt said every week will be devoted to cracking down on some type of crime.
During the first week, HPD will focus on educating people to help prevent domestic violence.
Public service announcements on the issue have already aired.
The march is also held to encourage citizens to help police reduce crime.
Personal safety, child safety and identity theft will also be highlighted throughout the month.
