Harris County Precinct 6 Deputies captured a man who fled through a neighborhood on foot after a short high-speed chase.
Deputies on a special investigation attempted to pull over a truck and engaged in a brief chase.
The passenger jumped out of the vehicle, and the driver then abandoned the truck, which crashed into a fence in the 1600 block of Sunnyland. Both suspects ran into a nearby neighborhood.
Deputies caught a short time later with the assistance of the Houston Police Department canine unit. The passenger was not apprehended.
A small quantity of cocaine was found in the truck, and the vehicle's steering column was broken, Harris County officials said.
The truck was reported stolen out of Hildalgo, Texas, and had license plates that were stolen Wednesday. The driver will be charged with evading police, possession of cocaine and auto theft, officials said.
The suspect’s name is being withheld until the charges are final.
