HISD offers flexible class schedules

This fall, HISD's Austin High School will offer flexible schedules to help keep at risk high school students in school.

It's hoped the plan will also help accommodate students with jobs who need only a few core courses to graduate.

Courses offered under the accelerated morning program would include math, science, English, and social studies.

HISD's board will vote on the plan Thursday.

About 40 students will benefit from the program this coming school year.
