MAGNOLIA -- A U.S. Army soldier has been indicted on charges of possessing and promoting child pornography, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott announced Friday.
Michael Ray Peterson Lisembee, 22, from Magnolia, was indicted by a Montgomery Country grand jury last month on two counts of promotion and 12 counts of possession of child pornography.
At the time of the investigation, Lisembee was enlisted in the Army and stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., for basic training. Lisembee was arrested and placed in the Montgomery County Jail this week.
Investigators with Abbott’s Cyber Crimes Unit found hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography on Lisembee’s computer after getting a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, officials said.
If convicted, Lisembee faces up to 20 years in prison for each promotion charge and up to 10 years for each possession charge. Each charge also carries a fine of up to $10,000.
Magnolia is about 45 miles northwest of Houston.
