A teenager is recovering after running his car into a tree.
Police said the 18-year-old was speeding and that he told them he'd swerved to avoid an animal.
He lost control of the car, ran over a street sign and hit a tree at Sturdivant at Brighton.
Crews had to use the jaws of life to get him out of the car, and he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight.
He is in serious but stable condition.
