Brady's Rehab in Projo Pats Blog:
Matt, it's not about how I feel personally as a fan, but whether Brady has given anyone any honest-to-god real reason to doubt him.
Last time he played, it was when leading his team to an 18-1 season, and the injury was not because he didn't win the parking spot.
The new free agent wide receivers all met Brady, rehabbing at Gillette, and other players have commented that he's been in there working out. What more does
Mr. Donaldson has been a bit snarky towards Brady in his articles and I just feel that Brady deserves the benefit of any doubt. If he proves otherwise - or demonstrates that he doesn't really give a damn anymore - than the press can have their field day.

Update: R.I. Salvation Army cuts ties to disaster helpers in Projo 7 to 7 News Blog:
Helping those in need, and helping those who help others is itself a Christian message. There is no need to make religious comments while doing it. You show your Christianity by your charitable work. Which is what the SSA was doing. The Salvation Army is going about it the wrong way, and I think they are making a mistake. If their mission is to spread Christianity while performing their work, I would expect fewer people to donate to them. Sadly, I'll certainly think twice when I see a bell-ringer, I never did before and also donated without thinking about it.

I've given my last dollar to the Salvation Army, i was always giving to them. A short time ago a friend need a place to stay they turned him away because he could not "work" a full day. What happened to the days when they were there to help people ???? Now this, I have some friends that have been on this truck and they do a great job its a slap in the face. Major Burr give the trucks back and the Fire house back, break your ties if you want to, I am sure the people of this state would donate to the cause of keeping these trucks running. They are not your trucks or your fire house to sell. The people of this State need to stand up and say NO to you.

If you read between the lines, it sounds like the SA wants to expand services by driving around feeding the poor and homeless. While this is a noble effort, I don't think "serving the message of Jesus Christ" was what the state EMA was thinking when they bought the new truck. If the SA is going to signifigantly cut the services, what do they need two trucks for? Simple solution: SA can keep the older truck for their "sending the message of Jesus", and the truck that the STATE paid for can be reallocated to the special signal association to continue thier REAL work of "helping people that help people". I'm sure e can find a cheap garage to store the truck, until a more permenant solution can be found. SHAME ON YOU SA!!

As one of the people who has volunteered many hours with the Canteen Service over the years, this news is totally unacceptable. This is a public relations blunder on the level of "new coke". I always directed my charitable payroll deductions to the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, that is until I read this story today.
To Paul, Ray and the rest of the crew from Special Signal, I know you will find a way to continue to do the work that you have always done and if there is anything that you need please be sure to let us know.

The SALVATION ARMY is shut off!!!! No more donations. I don't need the salvation army preaching to me. All set with that. Give the trucks back to the folks who actually use them for good reasons, anytime of the day or night.

Twin River, facing bankruptcy, to suspend dog racing in Projo 7 to 7 News Blog:
Whether you agree with dog racing or not, Cindy has a point. RI could spend that money a lot better by investing it in a different area... HA! Too bad that's not going to happen.

To the morons who think the dogs are just let free when dog racing stops-where do you think the dogs go when the track shuts down? Do you people line up to adopt them? Do you think the owners just take them home and make them pets? So let's hear what you think will happen to all these dogs...

Very understandable response from the good people that have been running this service. But reading between the lines it just sounds like the SA just can't afford to do it anymore on the same basis they have been. I think the minority on here who seem to think the SA is rolling in the dough are unrealistic about the reality. They surely have a right to run it however they want. It's just sad to see a good thing pass.

Yet another very public PR faux pas. Not very good strategic thinking on the part of Salvation Army...and particularly to couch this in some religious excuse...yecch.

Sundlun's son-in-law says family tried to end his driving in Projo 7 to 7 News Blog:
Please let's give it a rest!! Many elderly people are forced to give up their driving by family members for safety reasons. These people at least do not have to have it all advertised in the media. Give Mr.Sundlun a break, he gave up his license-now everyone is safe-leave him alone and stop the embarrassment already! geez!

Westerly police ID baby girl who died Sunday in Projo 7 to 7 News Blog:
Accidents are called "accidents" when they are exactly that, accidents... how about grieving WITH the family instead of assuming someone HAS TO BE guilty of foulplay? Until that is proven, open your hearts and minds, people, that maybe.. just maybe.. this was unintentional. The situation is sad enough, for everyone who was involved, from the family & neighbors to Westerly EMS and the Hospital staff. Hindsight is 20/20, and the parents and family have enough guilt to live with... without your assumptions. Live your own lives instead of trying to live someone else's.

It is unfortunate that religion was brought into this decision by the Salvation Army. If the people who run the Salvation Army think that by handing me a cup of water at a fire is going to make me want to change my faith they are crazy. What they have done, however, is make me decide to walk on by the people collecting money for the Salvation Army and reserve all my donations for non sectarian charities or Jewish run charities because I am a Jew. Previously I just looked at it as people helping people, but now I see their ulterior motive. What a shame.
