KFC Offers Rain Checks
Call it a coupon fiasco. One of my colleagues tried to use her KFC coupon last night and they wouldn't let her. Apparently she's not alone.
It turns out the company has received an overwhelming response so it is no longer accepting the free coupons it is giving out rain checks instead.
The coupon was part of an Oprah promotion May 5th and I told you about it here last week as well.
KFC says it has redeemed millions of coupons but in some locations there were lines out the door. Customers in some places were told they'd have to wait two hours to get the grilled chicken.
"We would like to apologize to our customers who have been inconvenienced by the overwhelming response to our free Kentucky Grilled Chicken offer," said Roger Eaton, President of KFC U.S. "The lines of customers wanting to redeem their coupons have been out the door and around the block, so we're unable to redeem customer coupons at this time."
If you've been unable to use your coupon ask your neighborhood KFC for a rain check request. You'll have to fill that out and then send it back in. It must be postmarked by May 19, 2009. KFC says it will then send the rain check coupon to you in the mail. You'll need your original coupon and the rain check the company will send. Then you'll be able to use it for a later two week period. To help apologize for the inconvenience KFC is also giving people a free Pepsi with their two piece grilled chicken dinner.
My guess is the company is going to try to stagger some of the dates on the coupons so they don't have the same flood of people at restaurants across the country.

Oprah mentioned this on her show yesterday, but in case you missed it you have until 10 p.m. to score a free two piece Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal from KFC. The coupon can be used from May 5th through May 19th, but it is not valid on Mother's Day.
Update
I had no trouble printing the coupon last night, but today ran into some issues. So I called KFC and they say there have been some issues. If you're having trouble try clicking on tools, internet options and delete cookies--that should clear it up. If you're using the Firefox web browser, go to tools, options, privacy, show cookies and remove all cookies.
Mother's Day Deals
• Mama Fu's is letting mama's eat free all week through May 9th. You do have to make a minimum purchase of $15 to get the discount, but it's a great excuse to take mom out to eat.
• Carino's Italian is offering to give mom's a free three-course meal from now through May 8th. It includes unlimited soups and salads, choice of select entrée, a mini dessert and soft drink or tea. Here's a look at the menu.
• Texas Land & Cattle will give all mom's a gift certificate for a free entrée on their next visit on Mother's Day this Sunday, May 10th.
Travel Deals
• Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas is offering an incredible deal right now. You can get a room for $99 a night per person, but that includes unlimited drinks and dining at the Beach Bar and Grill plus a $100 Cabana Credit. There are limited dates to take advantage of this so be sure the dates you want are included.
• Hyatt is offering to give you 30-percent off until June 30th. But you have to book by May 14th.
• Southwest Airlines is having a $49 airfare sale. You've got to book your tickets by May 14th.
• Continental Airlines is also advertising some fares for as low as $119 round trip out of Houston. You have to purchase these tickets by this Friday, May 8th.
