Lake Highlands community garden
Right about now, the folks at Eden's Organic Garden Center in Balch Springs are breaking ground on a community garden.
Across town, the City of Dallas is sponsoring the creation of community gardens in Lake Highlands. The city provides the location, water and compost. Gardeners pay a $100 annual plot fee and $20 refundable deposit. The gardens will be sustainable and organic, and you're free to plant anything legal, including vegetables, herbs, heirlooms and flowers.
