Trying to think of a good going-away- to-college gift for a friend or relative? Ditch the frames, candles and motivational books. Here's what college students said they want, according to a survey of 442 students conducted in April by dormbuys.com:

- College textbooks, or a gift card to the college bookstore

- Dorm supplies

- Collegiate clothing

- Care packages with food, bedding or laundry items
