With the writers strike dragging dangerously close to the February 24 telecast, the film academy is planning two Oscar shows: "The show we would love to do and ... a show that we would prefer not to do," [academy president Sid] Ganis said. In one show: gorgeous gowns, long speeches thanking lawyers, movie montages and, my personal favorite, the clap-for-who-just-died segment where really cool people get standing O's and the lesser known get golf claps. The other show? Well, "An Oscars contingency plan that would include history, film clips and out-of-the-ordinary concepts for the awards show is in the works," the AP says. So wait, does that mean both shows give us montages? Oh, let the montage madness begin! Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images E-mail entry: |
