“I like the big ones!” was a very pregnant Jennifer Lopez’s opinion of her favorite pieces in the Marchesa collection. Karen Craig and Georgina Chapman held their fall 2008 presentation Wednesday afternoon at the Chelsea Art museum to a packed crowd that also included Anne Hathaway, Joy Bryant, Eliza Duschku and Ms. Chapman’s husband, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Not surprisingly, the gowns were red carpet-ready.

Their intial inspiration was the film Elizabeth: the Golden Age, said Ms. Chapman. “I really got into the iconography of the period. It was really this idea of this really strong woman with a masculine edge who was searching for love.” And accordingly, the designers played with organza rosettes and crimson-colored suedes, while also diving into the seasons obsession with all things bird, with delicate feather details.
Ms. Lopez strolled casually around the space for most of the hour, seeminly oblivious to the gawkers and snappers, this writer included. The models, bowever, gamely posed for my camera.
